Research interests

Dr. Werfel’s lab works at the interface of nanotechnology and cancer biology to engineer next-generation cancer treatments. Specific research thrusts include:

Improving cancer immunotherapy with glycomaterials that target immune cells
Disrupting the platelet-tumor cell interaction to reduce platelet-mediated cancer metastasis
Understanding nano-bio interactions to improve the delivery of nanotechnologies to tumors
