Research interests
Dr. Mullen specializes in finite element-based simulation of damage in structural systems and risk and resilience index based plans for multi-hazard events affecting regions, communities, and interconnected essential facilities such as bridge networks and building clusters. Specific areas of interest include:
- Steel frame buildings
- Reinforced and prestressed concrete bridges
- Earthquake, blast, and fire loadings
- Beam-column dynamics and instability
- Fragility curve based risk assessment
- Objective resilience of bridge systems
