Admission process
Engineering is a challenging field, and the School of Engineering sets a higher academic bar within the University of Mississippi to ensure students are prepared to succeed. Strong math skills and problem-solving abilities are essential.
You can select an engineering major after you are admitted to Ole Miss, as long as you meet the School of Engineering's requirements as a freshman or transfer student.

Setting You Up for Success
We help incoming students transition smoothly into the School of Engineering and prepare for the rigorous coursework ahead. Our Summer Bridge Program offers two summer classes designed to strengthen math and science skills, ensuring students are ready to excel from their first semester.

Experiential Learning
Engineering isn’t just learned in the classroom—it’s built through experience. Ole Miss Engineering students gain real-world skills through undergraduate research, internships, and co-op programs that connect them with industry leaders and cutting-edge projects, preparing them for the next step in their careers.

Honors College
Many Ole Miss Engineering students challenge themselves further by joining the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College, where they engage in small seminar-style classes, hands-on research, and a capstone project that deepens their expertise. The Honors College provides an academically driven community and opportunities for leadership, service, and global experiences that set graduates apart.

Ole Miss Engineering offers dual-degree partnerships that allow students to earn degrees from multiple institutions, combining different academic strengths into one comprehensive program.

Center for Manufacturing Excellence
Located adjacent to the School of Engineering, the Center for Manufacturing Excellence offers a unique interdisciplinary experience in modern manufacturing. About half of CME students are engineering majors who gain hands-on experience in manufacturing processes, business principles, and leadership—graduating with a competitive edge in today’s industry.
