Preparing for Your First Semester

Steps for success from application to the first day of classes.

You've applied. Now what?

  1. Send transcripts and test scores
    1. Send us any and all ACT/SAT scores.
    2. Be sure you send any official transcripts and test scores to the University of Mississippi.
    3. AP scores need to be officially sent from College Board.
    4. Dual Enrollment credit needs to be officially sent from the institution where the course was taken.
    5. Final high school transcripts are also needed!
  2. Attend an Admitted Student Day!
    1. If you're still deciding on your college of choice, we would love to see you at Admitted Student Day!
  3. Register for Orientation
    1. Summer orientation registration typically opens in March, so be sure to register early.
  4. Check your UM email and TAKE ACTION!
    1. Once you are admitted, all official UM communication will come through your University affiliated email account.
    2. Be sure to read through any emails sent from the University and follow instructions given within those emails.
  5. Attend a pre-advising meeting and attend orientation.
  6. Once you're registered for orientation, the Engineering Advising team will reach out to you to schedule a pre-advising meeting. It will help get you set up to make orientation a smooth and easy transition. You will officially get to register for your Fall classes on Day 2 of orientation.
