Employers look favorably on hiring registered professional engineers, even if it’s not specifically required. Many governmental and consulting jobs require professional licensure.
All Ole Miss Engineering graduates, with the exception of Computer Science, Data Science, and Geology, are eligible to sit for the exam.
Students must apply for enrollment as an engineering intern through the Mississippi Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers & Surveyors before they can take the FE exam.
Then, you’ll need to sign up for the FE exam on the NCEES website.
You should take the FE Exam as soon as you think you are ready. All 50 states will honor your exam results. The Mississippi State Board of Licensure will provide your FE Exam results to the state where you would like to be registered as a Professional Engineer.
The computer-based FE exam contains 110 multiple-choice questions and takes around six hours to complete. The exam is administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES). For full exam details and information about practice exams, visit the NCEES website.
