Undergraduate Engineering Research

Experiential learning is a cornerstone of the undergraduate engineering experience and encouraging students to engage in research is one way we uphold this commitment.

Experiential Learning

Students can gain research experience either by working on an independent research project with faculty or as part of their honors capstone project.

Independent Research Project

Research-active faculty within the school often mentor undergraduates in their labs. Students who would like to become involved in research should read about ongoing projects within the school and contact faculty members who are researching something they find interesting.

Honors Thesis

Engineering faculty mentor Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College students and many of these students use their research work as the foundation of their senior thesis. Honors students are encouraged to engage with faculty members early in their college career so that they have ample time to gather results for their theses.
