Nadim Aziz (Civil Engineering)
Nadim is the Director of the South Carolina EPSCoR/IDeA program, a state-funded program whose main goal is to increase South Carolina’s research capabilities. As Director, Nadim works with the three comprehensive research universities in the state as well as with the public and private predominantly undergraduate institutions to promote research and research collaboration. He administers state-wide programs related to increasing South Carolina’s research competitiveness, workforce development and diversity.
Nadim became Director after having served 32 years as a faculty member and academic administrator at Clemson University. During his tenure as a faculty member, he taught applied fluid mechanics topics and conducted research for federal, state and private sponsors. Nadim was also active in continuing education and taught numerous training courses on environmental hydraulics and hydrology in South Carolina, North Carolina, Illinois and Mississippi. He also served as a consultant on numerous specialized projects. His 13 years of academic leadership experience include nine years as the Chair of Clemson’s Glenn Department of Civil Engineering followed by about four years as Associate Provost. During the latter appointment, he also served as the Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Interim Dean of the Graduate School. Nadim served on several committees and boards and published his research results in national and international journals.
He received a BS in Civil Engineering, MS, and PhD in Engineering Science from Ole Miss.
