David Dykes (Chemical Engineering)


David is a Senior Program Manager with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) located in Huntsville, Alabama. He has over 30 years of experience within the Department of Defense, beginning as a Second Lieutenant in the Army in 1986, flying helicopters. After serving on active duty for over eleven years, David began working for Mississippi Chemical Corporation, now part of Canadian Fertilizer Industries, and performing duties as a Process Design Engineer, Project Engineer, and then Project Manager. In 2005, David was mobilized back onto active duty, where he served as a battalion commander. In 2007, he returned to the Army Reserves and joined SAIC, where David has supported the military by managing system integration projects related to force protection and countering weapons of mass destruction.

David is a registered professional engineer in the State of Mississippi. He possesses a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Ole Miss (1986), a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from New Mexico State University (1996), and a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management from Troy State University (1994).

David is also a part of an Ole Miss family. He is married to the former Patricia Sutton (BS in Accounting in 1983), and they have two children, Danielle (BS in Forensic Chemistry in 2013) and Dustin (BS in Mechanical Engineering May 2017).
