Brian Platt Joins Geology and Geological Engineering

Brian Platt is the newest faculty member in the University of Mississippi’s Department of Geology and Geological Engineering. The assistant professor is teaching Engineering 691, a graduate-level technical writing class. He will also be teaching Sedimentology and Stratigraphy in spring 2014. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and master’s and doctoral degrees in geology from the University of Kansas. Read more...


Son of CE Graduate Passes; Family Requests Donations to Research Fund

Robert Owen “Bobby” Shephard Jr., of Atlanta, son of Robert O. Shephard (BSCE 35), passed away Sept. 13 after a 20-year battle with a brain tumor. He was 70. Born in Meridian, Shephard attended schools in Meridian, New Albany, Greenwood and Grenada before graduating from Druid Hills High School in Atlanta in 1962. Read more...
