The School of Engineering Helpdesk allows for School of Engineering IT staff to quickly process intradepartmental computer and internet problems. Faculty and staff may file tickets in the Helpdesk. Students experiencing issues with School of Engineering equipment or services may coordinate a ticket through their advisor or departmental office.
The School of Engineering provides its students with a spacious computer lab located in the first floor of Carrier Hall in Room 105. Each computer contains a large array of engineering programs and simulation software for unlimited student use. All engineering students are allowed access to these computers and any student with an Ole Miss webID account is allowed wireless access.
The School of Engineering provides a computer recommendation for all incoming students. This recommendation points new students towards a computer that will be reasonably priced, and at the same time, gracefully handle all required engineering software for a full four year education.
The Safe Software Initiative seeks to reduce the problem of rogue software being installed for School of Engineering faculty, staff, and students by providing a portal to download software that has been verified to be of high quality and free of malware.
