DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING News Bytes (Spring 2014)
  1. The Department offered for the first time laboratory classes based on Analog Discovery Board during the EL E 100 fall semester class periods. Freshman and transfers liked the hands-on experience.
  2. Xilinix has donated to the Department 14 quantities of Nexys 4 FPGA boards and associated software for our digital systems laboratories. These boards are used currently in the Advanced Digital Systems class.
  3. The Department has successfully concluded the search for a tenure-track faculty in Computer Engineering area. An offer has been made and the person is expected to join the Department in fall 2014.

Lei Cao was invited to be the Editor-in-Chief of a new journal "Multimedia Technology"

Lei Cao has hosted a visiting professor, Dr. Liqin Huang, from Fuzhou University in China from 9/1/2013 to 2/28/2014

Students Corner

Wesley Henderson obtained the joint Best Poster Award for the poster in the 33rd International Workshop on Bayesian Inference and Maximum Entropy Methods in Science and Engineering (MAXENT 2013), Canberra, Australia, Dec.15-20, 2014, for paper titled “Assigning priors for parameters constrained to a simplex volume,” authored by P. Goggans, L. Cao and W. Henderson.

Mr. Zachary Morgan received the Eta Kappa Nu Outstanding Electrical Engineering Student award for 2014 and the Outstanding Senior award from School of Engineering for 2014.

Mr. Sam Di received the Outstanding Senior award from School of Engineering for 2014 and the Mississippi Engineering Society Scholarship for 2014.

Ms. Rana Gordji received the Outstanding Senior award from School of Engineering for 2014.

Mr. Bigham Tyler received the Eta Kappa Nu Outstanding Electrical Engineering Junior award for 2014.

The 2014 Eta Kappa Nu Outstanding Electrical Engineering Sophomore award went to Mr. Demba Komma.

Ms. Faith Woods was a finalist for the Outstanding Senior award from School of Engineering for 2014.
